More Poems

Here are some additional poems that I have written. Enjoy!

These are poems that I have written over the last 5 to 10 years. Again, I would love to hear from you.

San Francisco

I'm sitting in
a park off of Columbus Street,
reading Dante's modern version of the Inferno;
Holiday in Hell.

The sky is white and eyes me,
I fold the corner of the page
and take out a smoke.
A bum asks me for a dollar,
I give him smoke instead.
In his coat a brakeman's manual
and in the other a bottle of Tokai.

I open the page and read about Virgil
in a casino guiding me passed Sisyphus pulling
levers, eternally getting stars melons and moons.

I look up from my page and a bearded Rabbi is quoting me Blake.
He smiles at me.
His accent is New York.
He tells me he's looking for love.
He says he wants to fuck me,
then walks away reading a tattered copy of The Leaves of Grass

The sun peaks through.
I take out my orange and peel it.
I bite into it and the juice runs down the corner
of my mouth onto the page of my book.

I wipe it and it smears like a small tear.
I think of Beatrice and smile.

EL SALVADOR

El Salvador,
El Salvador,
Your plight canceled by conspirators
Of Nielsens uninterested.
Feeding on new lies with suck the breast of TV
And its manufactured consent,
Prime time totaltarian versions of¦

El Savlador

Oh El Salvador
El Salvador
Heart of the Americas!
Can the head say to the heart, I have no need of thee?"
I have need of you El Salvador, land of the saved!

I remember you and your Christs.

Father Romero
Mi Padre, Mi Hermano
Yo te recuerdo
My father, my brother,
I remember you.
You were one of many crying in the wilderness,
But there were too many Judases with plenty of silver.
El Presedentes de Estados Unidos, hermano grande en el norte.
Presidential lies ignoring your genuflections.

How many father Romero, How many fathers and mothers wailed
Into your confessional ears,
Por donde esta mis ninos?
Where are my children?
How many brothers and sisters
Pleading at your patricarchial robes, rhetorical questions?
Por donde es mi familia?
Where is my family?
How many times did you pray to your bleeding god,
"Why hast thou forsaken us?"

We have forsaken you El Salvador
Heart of the Americas,
Bleeding heart of the Americas.
Ignored,
Orphaned,
Land of vanishing fathers and mothers
Daughters and son,
Land of the forsaken!

Oh El Salvador
El Salvador
El Salvador of the imprisoned
El Salvador of the flogged
El Salvador of the crucified

Forgive us!
For we knew not what we did to
Willing to believe the lies,
To willing to
Cry

Barrabas!
